I've always put Malaysia's TV commercial at a higher standard compared to the US. Most of the commercials in the US are either irrelevant or illogical. But the 8TV Ramadan ad is by far the most stupid ads I've ever watched. Yes, it is a well-meaning TV ad but associating it with Ramadan is totally irrelevant (for 2 out of the 3 ads). In the context of Malaysia where racism is still exist, putting a Chinese woman and expecting people to portray her as Malaysian is absurd. Banyak je perempuan Muslim yang pakai shorts or singlets. Bersepah kot. And should the Muslim men restrain themselves from feasting their eyes on women just during Ramadan? Time puasa behave, lepas puasa perangai cam setan, boleh?
Bottomline: Associating it with Ramadan-irrelevant.
