Several updates are due...


Faliela

• I had to introduce bottle to Faliela a week earlier than what I had planned as the first meeting with my supervisor was interrupted after I received a text from my uncle saying Faliela was hungry. Luckily I've started pumping and storing my BM few weeks back.
• I was a little bit panicked to the fact whether she can easily accept bottle or not so I've prepared different brand of nipple and different flow but she took bottle on the first try without so much hesitation.
• Faliela had a cold last week, luckily she wasn't that cranky like when her umbilical cord fell off.
• She has started wearing her 3-month old clothes. Yep, she grew bigger in a blink of an eye. She is 4.5 kg now, on 68th percentile in terms of her weight and length.

Mommy to Faliela

• Just had my dissertation committee meeting yesterday, presented the progress of my research and everything went well. Fuh, lega! My supervisor asked me to get a gooood rest before coming back to work :)
• Will start working in 2 weeks time. And mom is leaving in less than 3 weeks. Sad :( But life goes on. The only thing that keep my spirit going is the fact that we are going back for Aidilfitri this year.
• I had my post-partum check up with my Dr. Maayah, my obgyn just now. My incision site looks good except for the fact that she advised me (again) to opt for a C-sect in the future as my pelvic inlet is very narrow. I am really frustrated but at the same time I am very hopeful that for my future pregnancies, I will have a smaller baby (considering the fact that both me and Jai were not a big baby) and I will have the chance to experience a vaginal birth :(( Ok, saya memang degil.

I have to go now. I have a vacation to plan! Weee~

Baby shower

When we first announced that we're expecting, everyone was excited and Adilla a.k.a the party planner came out with the idea to throw me a baby shower. I would like to at least cook something for the baby shower but they won't allow me. And we left our house for few hours for them to make the preparations.  The shower was fun! fun! fun! and I was deeply touched by everyone's presence and effort to organize this special event specially for us. They are the only family I have in the US  ;)

Maternity photoshoot

At first, we wanted to just do an outdoor photoshoot with the help of our Malaysian friend, Khalis. The only weekend that we're both free was last week, but unfortunately Jai had to work late in the afternoon. The best time especially if you would like a good natural lighting for outdoor photography as what I've been told by my photographer friend is early in the morning or late in the afternoon. Morning is certainly not a good time for both of us, especially Jai considering he's working graveyard shift again on Friday. And he will have to leave for work later in the afternoon. So, we had to cancel the plan with Khalis and booked a studio photoshoot instead. I still prefer kitorang nye photographer untuk kenduri kawin, Rozek tapi takkan lah nak import Cik Rozek datang sini kan. (Apesal tiba2 tulis BM nih kan?) :P Anyway, enjoy the pictures!

Sacramento Kings vs Lakers game

This is one of my to-do list and I made it! By the way, this is probably the last home game for Sac Kings since they will be relocating to Anaheim and we won't have an NBA team anymore ;( Sad but I am glad, I have at least experienced watching NBA game LIVE!

It was boring the first 3 quarters until the last 5 mins of the final quarter when Sac Kings scored more points and they were ahead of Lakers by 3 points before Kobe Bryant ruined it with his 3 points shot and it was a tie.So, they had to play overtime. Anyway, Kings lose to Lakers but overall, an exciting game!

There are only two players from Lakers that I know of. Kobe Bryant and Lamar Odom (Khloe Kardashian's husband)

Last but not least,

Percubaan berani mati:

Try pakai seluar jeans lama at 37 weeks after gaining 10kg. Motif try seluar lama? Sebab bosan pakai maternity pants yang hanya ada 2 helai itu. Huhuhu

It still fits!

Winter way too soon

My most favorite US holiday, Thanksgiving Day has finally arrived and like every year, I am very thrilled!

Reasons being:

1. I get to eat roasted turkey.

Thanksgiving 2008. Yummy turkey golek!

 2. Black Friday shopping frenzy. Although after 2 years living in the US, I realized the price especially for clothes, handbags and things like that were as cheap as other holiday sales, but I like midnight shopping. It is just different =)

3. A 4-day off from work.


Husband gets 3 days off from work too so I kicked start the long weekend tonight by a Western style dinner, grilled chicken marinated with herbs.

And yes, with winter approaching sooner than it should be this year (as usual, cold means depressing), I don't want to stuck at home doing nothing at night, so I bought two PS3 games for a  berperang bonding session with Jai.

Yeah mommy, I'm depressed too watching the both of you yelling at each other while playing game and ignoring me =(

Takde story. But I would like to show Rocky fans, his girlfriend (who my friend named her Rockiah) that lives next door :)

Bihun sup and Rocky!

I'm back, alive and as healthy as a horse explaining my absence from blogging. No more nausea at night but I do throw up occasionally. So, I took this opportunity to clean the house, organize my desk and notes (yang berterabur since my exam) and cooking! Manelah tahu kot2 tibe2 minggu depan loya balik ke, hopefully I won't.

In case you wondering, Rocky tak makan bihun sup. Hahaha. I was working in the lab this morning when I suddenly craving of bihun sup utara. Huhuhu. Thought of making it tomorrow since takde tulang lembu, but dah tak tahan sangat nak makan. So, I decided to make bihun sup ayam je, but I made the yellow bihun :) Ade lah sikit2 rupa cam bihun sup utara kan. Kesian kan, kalau aku duk Malaysia, confirm dah gi carik bihun sup utara kat pasar malam. Kat sini, kalau teringin, masak sendirilah noxxx.. ;(

My craving has been satisfied :)

Topic 2:


Rocky! It has been a while since the last time I wrote about Rocky or put up Rocky pictures. He is doing fine. The first week I vomited, whenever I had to rush to the bathroom, he followed right behind :) He was actually standing right beside me, watching me throwing up into the toilet bowl. He must be thinking, "Ohhh, mommy got hairballs too like me". Hahaha.

First few weeks of my morning sickness where I had to stay in bed all day, I knew he was kind of lonely cos he kept meowing outside my room. Kesian dia, but now I think he is getting the hang of it. Anyway, kadang2 kalau die excited lebih, die lompat tibe2 and landing atas perut. Senak kejap but when I scolded him and showed him my tummy and said "Mommy ada baby dalam nih, you will get a new friend soon okay. Don't jump on baby nanti baby tak nak kawan." Then dia buat muka Puss in the Boot dia, pastuh tido konon2 merajuk.


Well, I bought the POANG chair in the picture for my husband but Rocky decided to 'own' it so that he can watch his girlfriend downstairs. Skodeng baik punye :)

Mummy Rocky yang hot, literally :P

Sementara rasa nak update blog..

1. Minggu nih busy tahap Perdana Menteri. Dengan kerja kat lab, pastuh meeting sana sini, dengan study group lagi.. 
2. Start minggu depan aku jadi surirumah (yang tak perlu memasak hari2) sepenuh masa sampai habis exam. Tapi maybe kena gi lab gak kadang2 nak siapkan kerja. Kalau lab sebelah rumah kan senang?
3. Sejak aku duk US, belum lagi aku kerja teruk2 time puasa. First year puasa, aku ngan Jai baru sampai. Jetlag tak hilang lagi so banyak duk rumah, kelas start last week puasa so tak penat sgt. Second year puasa aku balik Mesia, duk rumah gak :) Alhamdulillah walapun bukak pose pukul 8 mlm.
4. Rocky naik setengah kilo sepeninggalan kitorang pergi bercuti. Itulah 'keajaiban' bagi makan pakai auto-feeder. 
5. Dulu aku tak kisah sgt, tapi sekarang aku hot sikit bile orang asik2 cakap Jai gemuk. Aku nak je cakap, dah bini masak sedap2, confirm lah senang hati. Jai bukan kerja ofis duk dalam bilik aircond. Die kerja angkat kerusi meja ok, tak exercise lagi ke tuh? Jai tak kisah pun sebenarnye, aku je yang emo sebab terkenangkan zaman mrsm dulu, budak laki suka kate aku gemuk. Aku tembun lah dulu tapi takdelah gemuk cam tahap obese kan. Pastuh siap conteng2 meja aku lagi. Boys those days were so immature.
6. Minggu depan aku nak buat stok karipap and samosa simpan dalam peti-ais. Senang nak masak time berbuka. Tapi aku bukak pose sorang2 lah, Jai kerja. Rocky! Bulan pose mummy bagi makan kul 8 ok, teman mummy makan (gile psycho mak Rocky nih)
7. Baju raya aku tempah dari aku balik raya tahun lepas baru siap. Kalau tak 'grand' mengalahkan Kak Siti punya baju tak tahulah. 

Ok. Cukuplah tuh kot update aku. Dah macam minit mesyuarat pulak. 

Cakap aku gemuk takpe. Cakap tuan aku gemuk tak boleh. Shadap u!

Wait a minute, is Rocky a cat?

For those who still have no idea who is Rocky that I kept writing about in my blog, here it is..

Yes, he is a cat. Our fat and spoiled cat to be exact. We adopted him from a pet rescuer organization called Feline Lifeline after 2 months living in the US. He is a Domestic Short Hair x Siamese but he didn't looked very Siamese to me, more like 'kucing kampung US'.  We named him after a blogger, RockyBru, which at that time both me and Jai were very hooked-up with his writings. What I liked about adopting a cat in the US was the fact that they will try to find the right cat suitable to our liking. Like for example; if you want a cat that can get along with your dog or a cat that is very active, you will probably get one with a 99% accuracy. I wanted a male cat that likes to sit on my lap and here he is......

If he fails to get some attention because I am so busy with Facebook, he will get his cute-ass right in front of me.

We live in an apartment where pets are not allowed, so he enjoys the outdoor in a very limited way :(

This was what happened when the owner decided to surrender lifting his 6.3kg body.

But the dream is never forgotten

I love cats! That was one of the reasons why I went to get a vet degree.

Once I enrolled into a vet program, I knew I wanna be a small animal clinician. Though small animal rotation scares the pants off of everyone, it was a satisfaction when you saw your lil patient getting better everyday. I remembered taking care of Cindy, a dog who had a cataract surgery from the day of her admission until the end of my rotation (2 weeks) where I had to apply eye drop almost every hour. I visited her a week after my rotation ends and guess what? She still remembered me cos she was all around me when I entered her cage and she did that only to those she recognized. How enlightening to have that right? Ah, I always liked small animal :)

during my third year of study, my academic adviser asked me what I'm gonna do after I graduate?

and she threw me the possibility of joining the academia. It was a big NO to me at that point of time. But soon, I realized it is a big commitment to enter the world of practitioners. You have to sacrifice a lot of your time on weekends, the pay is sucks for fresh graduate and the important thing is you could only treat the animals with all the resources you have but you could not invest your time finding the resources. That is one of the reasons why I joined the academia so that I could do research and search for the resources. Besides, I would like to lead a healthy family life.

Looking back, sometimes I regretted my choice not to become a practitioner especially when my lab is a part of animal hospital and you see owners bringing their pets, nurses running around and vets giving consultation to the owners. It just brings the joy back into my heart, uplifting my spirit of once-my-dream-job. Well, for the time being, let just hope by doing small animal research, I will be encountering small animal more often when I come back to UPM. I hope they won't shut me off from visiting small animal clinic now and then :)

Well, I've been craving to play drum since I was a kid. Alhamdullillah, harapan termakbul. Ape punye harapan daaaa.... On another note, our band has no vocalist yet.. Well, we do have a temporary one but.........

Oh btw, 'he' is referring to my cat, Rocky :)


His nap time is quite long, it will be from noon until 7pm. So, if I started working at 5-6pm, then I will not be 'distracted' at least for an hour or so..

Oh, he likes to sleep on my bag. I don't know why, maybe he likes my odor :)

Then, when he saw me busy working and ignoring him who just woke up from his nap, he jumped on my chair, climbed on my back and started to self-stroke his head with my head. Well, picture below is the proof. I didn't have to hold him at all.

Picture below describing his owner in the state of 'kegelian' cos he kept stroking his head over mine. Laki i pun tak buat macam tuh okay! Plus, he likes to massage my back sometimes. It was some sort of behaviour you can observed when kittens massaging the queen to stimulate milk production. Probably he was weaned too early !

Well, at least he make himself useful to the family. Tolong massage tuan dia hari2 :P

Ini ialah En. Fendi, dahulunya penghuni tetap Fakulti Perubatan Veterinar dan disayangi oleh semua orang. Makanan dia jangan main2, Royal Canin tau....tapi die tetap akan pergi kafe mintak makanan kat orang.. Die tak leh diambil as resident cat/blood donor cos dia ada Leukemia, so die merayau2 je kat fakulti kitorang.. But last year, he has been adopted by somebody cos die suka gaduh dengan kucing lecturer kat sini.. Kesian Fendi.. Anyway, ini adalah gambar of his attempt nak turun dari pokok.. Kucing kan pandai naik tapi tak pandai turun... Tapi die berjaya landing kat atas meja makan kafe.. Good one Fendi!

Nih gambar Jai and his lil sister, Farisha.. Those were the days when her parents lived in Bukit Jelutong, so selalu lepak rumah dia.. Parents dia adalah best sebab suka pergi makan luar, buat BBQ etc.. So, nih time dorang buat BBQ and kitorang tgh lepak2 kat luar rumah.. Nih waktu Farisha umur 4 tahun kot, sekarang dia dah masuk darjah 1... I miss those days...
